Rice for the Needy
Volunteers give Rice to the Needy
This community project will take many youngsters to see a face of Hong Kong that is usually out of sight for them. The
chance comes as a result of a big expansion in the HKFYG rice-giving project, loyally supported by the Au Bak Ling Charity Trust and co-organized by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant: Youth Volunteer Network. At the launch ceremony on 29 April, Guests of Honour will be Mr Patrick Nip, Director of Social Welfare, Ms Florine Tang, Executive Manager, Charities, Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Ms Angela Au, Executive Director of the Au Pak Ling Charity Trust .

Every month this year, young volunteers will take 7 kilograms of rice to 2,500 low-income households. About 1,000 of them all together will visit vulnerable, needy people and those who cannot move easily. The project, Rice for the Needy, Volunteers in Action, has expanded to 14 Hong Kong districts* and the young volunteers will see how different life can be for them. Call 2169 0032 and ask for Idy if you would like for more information about this compassionate campaign.

*The districts are Hong Kong Eastern, Kowloon City, Kwai Fong & Tsing Yi, Kwun Tong, North District, Saikung, Shatin, Shamshuipo, Tai Po, Tsim Sha Tsui/Mongkok/Yaumatei, Tsuen Wan, Tuen Mun, Wong Tai Sin and Yuen Long.
