Webcast chats: The CE, Policy Secretaries and young people |

| This morning the Chief Executive (CE) |
delivered the last Policy Address of his tenure. To give young people the opportunity to comment on the Address and ask questions in areas of particular pertinence to them, including education, employment and housing, the Federation has organized a live webcast dialogue session with the CE.
This webcast will begin at 7pm on Monday 17 October and the young people's questions will be taken through u21, the HKFYG website and on Facebook.
By using the medium of webcasts, it is believed that young people are more likely to participate given their familiarity and expertise with the format. Through this active participation, the Federation hopes that they will broaden their analytical abilities and gain confidence in further engaging in the public process.
Other webcast dialogue sessions will be held with Secretaries for the Environment, Education and Labour and Welfare, the details of which are in the News below.

The Federation will broadcast online webcast sessions with Mr Donald Tsang, Chief Executive and other senior officials from 17-24 October. HKFYG Web Positive Online Outreaching Counselling Service wins 2011 Best Practice Award |
|
| The Hong Kong Council of Social Service has chosen HKFYG Youth Counselling Centre's Web Positive as one of ten |
best projects this year. The innovative delivery model uses online outreach to identify, approach and engage young internet users who are emotionally disturbed. Online and hotline counselling plus face-to-face and group interviews follow.
From June 2009 till July this year, counsellors have engaged 1,633 young bloggers, leaving them nearly 27,000 messages to which there have been 5,847 responses and 13,348 cases of MSN/email counselling. The online platform is the main medium, delivering positive messages and cultivating a caring online environment. InnoTech Month 2011
kick-off with Roadshow
HKFYG has been invited by the Innovation and Technology Commission as the Campaign Partner of the InnoTech Month 2011. In parallel, the Federation will organize a Roadshow from 21-23 October featuring innovative, fun-filled workshops and exhibitions for the public to experience practical applications of technology. The kick-off ceremony is on Friday 21 October at 3:30pm in the Atrium, 2/F, City Plaza, Taikoo Shing, with a welcome from Dr. Peter Tsoi Ting-kwok, JP, President of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and an Opening Address by Ms. Janet W.C. Wong, JP, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology. The Hon Wong Ting-kwong, BBS, JP, Legislative Council member, will also be present as a Guest of Honour. YEN Working Reality Project supported by

Love Ideas, Love HK
HKFYG's Youth Employment Network (YEN) has launched a youth job preparation project called Working Reality, with support from Love ideas, Love HK, the Li Ka Shing Foundation initiative. The project's aims are to provide approximately 4,000 senior secondary students with experience of the world of work, enhancing their job skills and employability. Participants from 20 secondary schools learn how to prepare CVs, be interviewed, polish presentation skills and set up a business. The project continues until March 2012. Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme 2012 call for nominations
25 scholarships for non-final year science and technology students are available under this scheme, supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission and The Hongkong Bank Foundation. Those selected will have the opportunity to study abroad, learn from professionals and gain exposure and experience in their chosen industry. Amounts of up to HK$150,000 will be awarded for programmes comprising an overseas or mainland attachment, mentorship, a service project and the option of a local internship. All applicants should be nominated by their university President or Vice-Chancellor. The deadline is 10 February 2012, after which nominees will be invited to attend a selection interview. Short Chinese videos about values in contest sponsored by Hang Seng Bank
Awards will be made tomorrow, Thursday 13 October, to winners of an international short film contest organized by HKFYG e-services and sponsored by Hang Seng Bank. Promising young Chinese filmmakers from Hong Kong, Macao, mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and France took part in the competition which ran from April to July this year. The two categories were short clips lasting under a minute and a half on the theme of 'The Love Beside You' and ten-minute videos on 'Dealing with Frustration.'
