11th Hour Giving
11th Hour Giving
On the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th year of the millennium, HKFYG invites you to join us and care about others. We encourage all friends and partners to give a minimum of
HK$11.00 to the Youth Wellness Centre, a one-stop service for young people facing addictions to drugs, tobacco, alcohol, the Internet and gambling.

On 11 November, we are also planning a celebration with all friends whose birthdays fall on that day. All who were born in 2000, not only on the 11 November, and anyone celebrating a birthday in November is welcome at a festive, joyous cake-cutting ceremony at 10.30am in Café 21, G/F HKFYG Building. All for a worthy cause! Please make cheques out to The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups or make an online donation before the 1 December 2011. Click here to find out about the work of the Youth Wellness Centre.

Warm thanks to early donors, mentioned opposite.

HKFYG Youth Poll 206
HKFYG Youth Poll 206 on young people's views of the 2011 District Council Elections
A survey of 515 young people
aged 18-39 found almost 70% of them were eligible to vote in last weekend's election. 62.6% of the eligible voters said that they would cast their votes. A similar number (62.1%) of the eligible voters aged 18-34 shared the same view, a big drop since the 2007 figure of over 77%.

The majority relied on traditional channels such as posters (65.0%), TV or radio programmes (44.5%), and newspapers or magazines (22.3%) for news about the election. Over 10% searched online for information about candidates or to express views.

Over half said they had known the current councillor in their districts and half said they would tend to vote for young candidates. Very few of those polled were interested in running for election themselves. A Chinese press release is at http://yrc.hkfyg.org.hk/
